Round tortoiseshell box, decorated on the lid with an oval miniature representing the portrait of the son of the Emperor Napoleon I, the King of Rome *, from the painting by Gérard, from the 19th century.

This box is in good condition.

A note: traces of restoration at the level of the cover (glue), some small chips, wear of time, see photos.

prince imperial, titled king of Rome at his birth, then prince of Parma, proclaimed Napoleon II at the end of the Hundred Days and finally titled duke of Reichstadt by his grandfather the emperor of Austria, was born on March 20, 1811 at the Tuileries Palace in Paris and died on July 22, 1832 at the Schönbrunn Palace in Vienna. He was the son and heir of Napoleon I, Emperor of the French, and his second wife, Marie-Louise d'Autriche. He was in turn recognized emperor, reigning under the name of Napoleon II, from April 4 to 6, 1814 and from June 22 to July 7, 1815 (his father having abdicated in 1814, then in 1815), a title recognized by the Assemblies. Her nickname Aiglon was posthumously attributed to her and was popularized by the play by Edmond Rostand, the title role being created on March 15, 1900 by the tragedian Sarah Bernhardt.
