Large Louis XIV cartel in marquetry Boulle *, ornamentations in gilt bronze finely chiseled, decorated with a cherub holding a torch on the top, musical instruments (lyre, trumpets ...), quiver, as well as stylized shells , Arabesques and volutes végétales, dial in engraved bronze with enamelled cartouches, from the early 18th century.

This cartel is in good general condition, it is in its juice. It works but will have to be revised (it lacks the hammer of the ringtone, which will be redone before delivery). We have the key and the pendulum. The upper part with the cherub is removed.

A few accidents and misses on the marquetry, also misses some nets and elements in brass (including a net on the edge of the upper part with cherub), a bird will be to be pasted on the door inside, a net of Brass also inside the case (we have these two pieces), some parts of marquetry are peeled off, some small chips on the enamel parts of the dial, wear time, well look at the photos (cf the red arrows).

* André-Charles Boulle (1642-1732):

Cabinetmaker and inventor of the famous Boulle inlay. From 1666 to 1676, he has his own cabinetmaking workshop where up to 40 people will work, including his own sons. From 1672, King Louis XIV, on the advice of Colbert, who considers him as "the most skilled cabinetmaker of Paris", offers him accommodation in the Louvre.
