Oval miniature painted on copper representing the portrait of a young man in the wig, François Rochard probably attributed to his brother Simon Rochard *, in a twisted ormolu frame XIXth century.

This miniature is in good condition, it is not signed. A label on the back is attributed to a miniaturist Simon Rochard.

A note: missing teeth tie the frame at the back, wear time, see photos.

* Simon Jacques Rochard (1788-1872):

miniature painter, one of the best of his time, watercolorist, he took a few oil paintings and some engravings. Son of René Rochard, he studied with Miss miniature Bonnieu and LF Aubry, and perhaps Isabey and Mérimée. He worked in Paris, Brussels and London. He exhibited at the Royal Academy, the British Institution [...] at the 1852 Paris Salon, and then participated in the 1867 World Expo Its colors are very influenced by the English school.
