Very pretty fan with a gouache representing two gallant scenes with each time a shepherdess and her two sheep in romantic landscapes, framed finely sculpted and openwork enhanced with silver inlays, Directoire period late 18th century.
This fan is in its juice and will have to be restored.

* From the beginning of the 18th century, France was the leading fan producer in Europe. The decor of the first French fans is borrowed from illuminated manuscripts and tapestries.
