Reliquaries

The term relic (from the Latin reliquiae, literally “remains”) designates the human remains of holy people (often bone fragments) or objects that belonged to them or had been in contact with them. As the cult of relics developed in Europe from the 17th century, reliquaries entered the private space of homes as a form of protection or particular devotion. Here you will find some examples of reliquaries, all original and dedicated to many Saints.
