* Degué

Among the major signatures of glass artists (Daum, Muller, Noverdy, Negra, Schneider, Maynadier, etc.) who remain references for the beautiful quality of their productions from the 1930s and Art Deco style, DEGUE is a label that We find in particular on glassware for lighting (suspension basins, chandeliers with central cup and pressed glass tulips, etc.) but also on vases. Founder and owner of the Verrerie d'Art Degué company in Paris (1926-1939), David GUERON signs his productions with the DEGUE label; he began by creating the Cristalleries de Compiègne in the early 1920s before settling in Paris in 1926, with a factory on Boulevard Malesherbes as well as a store where he presented his creations at 41, avenue de Paris in the 12th arrondissement of the Capital city. In some of his works, such as this vase, David Guéron distinguished himself by a beautiful audacity in the use of colors. A great rivalry existed between the great master glassmakers of the time; Charles Schneider (Le Verre français) accused David Guéron of copying his creations and the dispute was brought to court. It was the Second World War which put an end to the Degué Art Glassworks, David Guéron leaving France in 1939. (Cf website leblogantiquites.com)
