Pair of hand-painted miniatures representing the portrait of a couple, certainly notable people; the woman wearing a dress with a lace collar and pendant; the man in a jacket and bow, signed Rougeot de Briel* and dated 1856 and 1857, in blackened wooden frames, from the 19th century.

These miniatures are in good condition. Signed and dated on the side.

Note: some scratches on the frames, wear and tear, see photos.


* Jean ROUGEOT DE BRIEL (1795-1871).

Son of Bernard François Rougeot de Briel (1755-1843) who was sergeant of the gendarmerie. Painter in miniature, he exhibited his works at the Paris Salon between 1833 and 1852.(1) On an unknown date, he left the capital for Elbeuf (Seine-Maritime). Artist listed on ArtPrice.
