Altar missal in Latin, entitled "MISSALE LEMOVICENSE DD. Prosperi de Tournefort*", with the coat of arms of the bishop, leather cover, dated 1830 in Limoges (Lemovicis), from the 19th century.

This missal is in good condition.

A note: some creases on some pages, slight yellowing, some scratches and wear on the leather, see photos.

* Prosper of Tournefort (1761-1844)

is a French clergyman who was Bishop of Limoges from 1824 until his death. He studied law at the University of Aix-en-Provence under Jean-Étienne-Marie Portalis. A lawyer and member of the “Representative Assembly of Venaissin”, he followed the pontifical vice-legate Filippo Casoni to Italy and only entered the ecclesiastical career at the age of 39. First canon in Lyon, vicar general in Troyes, parish priest of Compiègne in 1816 then vicar general in Metz with Jean-Baptiste Dubois who brought him to Dijon in 1820. He was appointed bishop of Limoges in 1824 and confirmed the March 21, 1825 before being consecrated in May. He published synodal statutes in 1838 and died in 1844. The coat of arms of Mgr de Tournefort is: azure with a tower donjonnée argent, masonry sable, accosted by two confronted lions argent.
