Box or game box in blackened wood and marquetry gilded brass and mother of pearl, signed Vevelle Aîné *, with its mother-of-pearl chips finely chiselled by hand, Napoleon III nineteenth century.

Grand cabinet maker of the Second Empire. Vervelle Aîné exercised 157 Rue du Faubourg in Paris from 1825 to 1856. The Vervelle house was founded by his father, Jean-François, in 1804. His specialty was the small furniture and the most diverse boxes and boxes, the tapestries (his first job was upholsterer). In 1840 he counted nearly a hundred workers.
