* Teaches "Au Petit Dunkerque":

This is the sign of an old curiosity shop. this shop belonged to M. Granchez, a native of Dunkirk, a jeweler of Queen Marie Antoinette. In this shop were sold objects of arts and curiosities coming from the four corners of the world. The first sign of this shop was a painting which represented the port of Dunkirk with the arrival of the ships, which brought of India and China most of the curiosities that one sought with passion for the ornament of the flats at this time. the reputation of Granchez's shop was such that the name survived the merchant. Indeed, almost a century later, Petit Dunkerque was called a certain category of fine hardware and jewelery of choice. Granchez sold his shop around 1789 (to settle rue de Richelieu) to a wine merchant who kept his famous name and teaches the little Dunkirk remained on the front until 1913, when the building was demolished.
