Black Forest * carved wooden jewelry box decorated with friezes of foliage, pine cones, branches, small flowers and ferns, XIXth century.
This box is in good condition. We don't have his key (the lock is missing). Maybe missing a decoration on the cover

The Black Forest carved wooden objects do not originate in Germany but were made in the region of Brienz, Switzerland. The tradition of woodworking is ancestral in this region, the inhabitants perpetuate the practice of carved wood on the facades of houses, furniture or everyday objects. The sculptors excel in particular in the representation of wild animals in their natural environment. In the 19th century, these naturalistic sculptures of the black forest became very fashionable and very popular.
