Large sculpture (96.5 cm) in bronze with green patina signed Jean Verschneider * entitled L'Effort, representing a man driving a long stake into a rock, stamp of foundry LN Paris JL **, from the beginning of the 20th century.

This sculpture is in good condition and is of exceptional quality. It is very decortive due to its large size. Signed on the rock and foundry stamp, number 11 below.

A note: some small scratches on the bronze (visible on the back and buttocks), some wear of time, see photos.

* Jean Verschneider (1872-1943):

sculptor (Ec fr). Student of Perrin and Injalbert. Associate of French Artists since 1908; honorable mention in 1909. (Cf Bénézit)

(Les Neveux by J. Lehmann, also abbreviated LN Paris JL) is a Parisian art foundry, mainly renowned for the production and distribution of bronze statuettes, mostly chryselephantine, in the Art Deco period of the 1920s and 1930s The company's headquarters were located at 26 rue de Paradis, in Paris. Another part of the business was located at 14, avenue de l'Opéra. The foundry has produced works by famous artists such as: Demetre Chiparus, Maurice Guiraud-Rivière, Jean-Antoine Injalbert, Agathon Léonard, Giacomo Merculiano, Constant Roux, Joé Descomps-Cormier, Pierre Le Faguays, Raoul Lamourdedieu, Jan and Joël Martel, Gaston Hauchecorne, Madeleine Granger Claire Colinet, Amedeo Gennarelli, Alfred Pina, Georges Chauvel and Jean Ortis. Production ended with the Second World War and the German occupation of France.
