Bronze sculpture with brown-golden patina, representing the bust after the antique of a satyr, model of the Faune de Vienne* (original preserved in the Louvre), founder's stamp Chapal** in Auray, vintage early 20th century .

This bust is in good condition and is very decorative. Cahet of the foundry see photo

Note: tiny scratches and wear over time, see photos.

* The original bust, now kept in the Louvre, is a Roman copy of part of the Hellenistic group "invitation to dance". Only the bust was found in Vienna in 1820 and offered by the city to Louis XVIII in 1822.

** Gaston Chapal (1871-1921):

Kerloc foundry in Auray. A graduate of Arts et Métiers (Châlons, class of 1886), Gaston Chapal began his career in 1892 at Maison Salmson & Cie. In 1895, he was appointed engineer at the Tusey foundries, where he became a partner (Dufilhol & Chapal Company). In 1898, he took over, with his father, the foundries and workshops of Kerloc, in Auray (Morbihan, arr. Lorient, ch.c.). At the same time, he managed the sawmills and workshops in Voutenay (Yonne).
