* Irenaeus ROCHARD (1906-1984)

He turned quickly to animal sculpture for he says, "to honor the animals." At 22, just out of Fine Arts, he received his first prize for Panther scale. This distinction will be followed by many others during his career. In the interwar period, he attended middle artists from animal sculpture mainly POMPOM François Edouard and Marcel Sandoz. It is expressed mainly by bronze, some ceramic, direct timber size, granite and marble. It constantly seeks to give intelligence to his animals, to bring out their personality, gentleness or ferocity. Tireless artist, he performs hundreds of animals in their daily attitudes with a delicacy as it suggests that they are capitalized if only for a moment to be admired. This is true of his horses, monkeys, gazelles, panthers, bears, ducks, bisons, pelicans, camels, dogs etc ..
Modern bill, they are all characterized by the flexibility and elegance of their forms. History: Gérard Rochard - Quotes from Dr. Hachet "the animal bronzes of antiquity to the present day"
