Pair of Louis XIV style candlesticks in finely chiseled silver-plated metal with floral and plant arabesque motifs, tulip socket mounted on a canted shaft, octagonal base with cut cants, hallmark of Maison Christofle*, from the second half of the 19th century.

These candlesticks are in good condition, they have their bobeches. Beautiful quality, they are very decorative. Hallmarked on the base.

Please note: some soiling, slight desilvering in places, scratches and wear from time, see photos.

*Christofle

is a French silversmith brand, founded in 1830 by Charles Christofle. Its master silversmith hallmarks were registered in 1845, the date of the first "silver plated silversmith" factory. At the end of the 19th century, Christofle began producing silver plated objects. Emperor Napoleon III ordered all the official dinner services of the Empire from Christofle in 1851. From the second half of the 19th century, Christofle also became the supplier to ministries, embassies, and parliaments around the world, as well as to luxury hotels, shipping companies, and railways, both French and foreign.
