Very pretty dandy's cane, 18-carat solid gold mount hallmarked with eagle's head, and shaft made of malacca cane, signed by the manufacturer Thomassin*, dating from around 1830, 19th century.
This cane is in good condition. It has two hallmarks (see photos).
Note: some minor dents and deformation on the frame, wear and scratches on the wood, the brass tip is missing, the handle and chain are also missing, see photos.
He was a renowned cane merchant in Paris, mentioned in "La Mode, revue du monde élégant" in 1835. Théophile Gautier also cites him in "Les Roués innocents" (1853).
