* Jules Dupré (1811-1889):

After a porcelain decorator apprenticeship in his father's factory, Dupré is dedicated to painting from 1829. His meeting with Théodore Rousseau is decisive. At his side, he learns to look at nature with sincerity and depth. Dupré is marked by Constable and the English landscape, discovered during a stay in London in 1834. He also admires the Dutch painting of the seventeenth century, while being highly sensitive to romanticism. His meeting with Théodore Rousseau is no less decisive, together they traverse France. Dupré makes short stays in Barbizon, but is nevertheless regarded as representative of this school of nature. Gradually his touch impasted but in the years 1880-1885 Dupré reached a dramatic lyricism of impressive density. Many works have returned to the Louvre and the Musée d'Orsay.
