* Jules PINCAS said PASCIN (1885-1930):

Original Bulgarian painter naturalized American and French. He was called the Prince of Montparnasse and the Prince of three mountains, is one of the painters of the School of Paris. First influenced by Fauvism, Cubism then he turns away quickly, it is becoming the insatiable designer of Parisian nights with monthly payments ever made by the magazine "Simplicissimus" allow it to be a leader without counting . He took to model, among others, his wife Hermine David and his mistress Lucy Krogh and inmates of brothels and disreputable places of Montmartre fauna, and covered his notebooks voluptuous and nostalgic designs, sometimes erotic and always haloed d an unspeakable sadness. Consumed with alcohol, shared in his affections, he began to lose his balance and June 2, 1930, the day of the opening of his exhibition at the Galerie Georges Petit, who was to bring him further success, he committed suicide at 45 years in Paris in his studio of 36 boulevard de Clichy, in atrocious conditions: opening the veins of both arms he wrote with his blood Adieu Lucy on the walls of the workshop, then as death came not hanged himself with string and broke his neck. Lucy Krogh discovered the body three days later. The Paris of the arts was appalled and the day of his funeral many galleries closed.
