Exceptionally large and Louis XV clock gilt bronze and brown patina, representing a reclining woman draped in antique and a cherub sitting on books and holding a globe and compass, symbols of Knowledge and Knowledge, signed by the bronze sculptor Charpentier & Co., of the nineteenth century Napoleon III.
This clock is in very good condition. It is of exceptional quality and fineness of carving. The dial is signed "Carpenter & Co. bronze in Paris 8 Rue Charlot". The movement is signed "Carpenter Manufacturer of bronzes in Paris". It works but the slat suspension will change. We have his key, the balance and the ringer.
Gilding is original and is not worn. We left it in its juices and will be cleaned.
A note are two small repairs on bronze (see last picture), small scratch on the watch glass, normal wear see photos.
