Griotte marble clock topped with a bronze sculpture (brown and bronze patina) representing a young cherub or faun (perhaps Allegory of Pan?) playing the double flute (Aulos), signed J. Denière* in Paris, movement marked "Médaille d'Or Pons 1827", Napoleon III period, 19th century.
This clock is in good condition and is very decorative. Signed on the movement (see photos). The movement is working and has been fully serviced.

created in 1804 by Jean-François Denière and then taken over, from 1844, by the son, Guillaume Denière. The father and son were important manufacturers of decorative bronzes in Paris. Their works appeared at the Universal Exhibition of 1855 in Paris, described as: "clocks, chandeliers, candelabras, table centerpieces, fires etc, of bronzes of different styles and periods". Located rue de Turenne, in 1812, then rue de Charlot (from 1860 to 1890), and rue d'Orléans (from 1820 to 1840).
