Small Louis XV parlor table in walnut veneer and various wood veneers, decorated in marquetry with frames and small flowers at the corners on the top, resting on four cabriole legs, gilt bronze sabots chased with stylized shells, made in the style of the Hache* cabinetmakers, from the 18th century.

This table is in good overall condition. The tabletop is removable and held in place by large dowels. There are traces of drawer slides and a former drawer that has been removed.

Note: traces of restorations from use, minor accidents and wear from time, particularly on the marquetry, see photos.

The Hache family is a renowned family of cabinetmakers from Grenoble. Throughout the 18th century, the Haches succeeded one another from father to son in their Grenoble workshop. At the dawn of the 18th century, Thomas Hache developed a special sawing process to obtain large sheets of burl wood, as well as red and green dyes for sycamore and ash, the secret of which is now lost. Using burls and roots as iridescent and shimmering as precious fabrics, Pierre Hache, cabinetmaker to the Duke of Orléans, created marquetry decorations in the Louis XV style whose refined taste and originality remain unsurpassed. His son, Jean-François, further enriched them, sometimes adding a touch of virtuosity to the forms. The fruit of a century of production, the known work of the Hache family is impressively extensive and varied. The abundance of furniture falsely attributed to them is no less remarkable.
