Superb snuffbox corozo * intricately carved boat-shaped, decorated with two characters, soldiers or settlers, fighting with spears, a harpist near a castle on the other side, and a head grotesque, working sailor or convict, XIXth century.
This snuff box is in good condition.
A note: missing the axis of the hinge, lack a look at the grotesque accident down, missing the end of a lance, small slot on the cover and on one side, wear time, see pictures.

* Coconut like the ivory nut was worked by marine or also by convicts. The latter worked to pass the time but mainly to get some money to improve their lives. Can also be attributed to the sailors during their long journeys. These objects coconut or ivory nut are fine examples of folk art.
