* Snuffbox corozo finely carved, decorated with two characters, including a Napoleonic soldier etching a stele probably on Napoleon's Grave on the Island of St. Helena, working sailor or convict, of XIXth century.

This snuffbox is in good condition.

A note: the broken hinge (the cover is removed, see last photo), some cracks and small accidents, wear time, see pictures (red arrows).

* Coconut as the corozo was worked by sailors or also by convicts. The latter worked to pass the time but mainly to get some money to improve their lives. Can also be attributed to sailors during their long journeys. These objects coconut or corozo are fine examples of folk art.
