* The company Loetz

specializing in the creation of high quality glass, was founded in 1836 by Johan Loetz in Klostermuhle, Bohemia, included in the Austro-Hungarian Empire. In 1898, after several years of experimentation on technical variations in the production of art glass, the company launched a patent for the production technique of deep blue glass or metallic gold, colors thanks to which Loetz is known all over the world. But it was really in the Art Nouveau era that Loetz gained his nobility. Indeed, at the Paris Exhibition in 1900, Loetz shared the first prize with the famous glass designers of Art Nouveau: Tiffany, Gallé and Daum. From 1903, many Viennese artists worked for the Loetz glassworks, such as: Koleman MOSER and Josef HOFFMANN as well as other members of the Wiener Werkstätte. The main creator of Loetz between 1903 and 1914 was Maria Kirschner, born in Prague and later living in Paris and Berlin. Unfortunately the Loetz company suffered serious financial difficulties and was dissolved in 1939. The color and relief of the special iridescence typical of Loetz glasses give them an extremely refined touch. The innovative and original forms used by Loetz and inspired by the glass objects of ancient Persian and Roman art are typical of Art Nouveau glassware. Other equally popular motifs of Loetz are the vases inspired by nature and decorated with original shapes in "swan neck" or "peacock" color in iridescent blue-green tones.
