* Pierre D'Avesn (1901-1990):

From his real name Pierre Girre. Pierre d'Avesn was a pupil of François Decorchement at the School of Decorative Arts. He was hired by Lalique where he stayed for 10 years. He worked at Daum between 1930 and 1936 where he developed the production of pressed molded glasses in the department of productions signed Lorrain Nancy. He joined the company Verlys in 1937 in the Hollophane glasses department at the glassworks of Andelys. After 1945 we find him at the Cristallerie de Choisy le Roi where he reissues old models and creates new ones. He remained there until his retirement in 1984. Considered the elite of the last glassmakers of the Art Deco era, he died in Paris at the age of 90. (See Art Deco Vases site)
