Elsa Schiaparelli "Sleeping" perfume bottle in crystal enhanced with gilding (most likely by Baccarat) representing a candlestick, the stopper in the shape of a flame, from the period 1938, 20th century.
This bottle is in good condition, superb quality. There is still some perfume left inside.
Presented as a nighttime fragrance, it was to be sprayed at bedtime, and the perfume was supposed to illuminate the subconscious and "light the path to ecstasy," according to an advertisement illustrated by Marcel Vertès. (cf. Metropolitan Museum website)
Please note: there are a few stains on the base, a small defect on the edge of the base, micro-scratches and slight wear from age, see photos.
