Ebonite photo frame* with architectural decoration of columns with capitals on the uprights, pediment adorned with a floral garland and a large palmette, from the Napoleon III period, 19th century.
This frame is in good condition, beautiful quality.

Charles Goodyear obtained ebonite in 1839 by subjecting natural rubber to a prolonged (and extreme) vulcanization process. Its color, similar to that of ebony, is the origin of its name. His brother, Nelson Goodyear, patented and commercialized it in 1851.
