Etching "The Gypsy with a Guitar" Van Caulaert 20th

Etching by Jean-Dominique Van Caulaert *, representing a gypsy playing guitar, vintage twentieth century.

This etching is in good condition. It is under glass.

A note: a corner of the glass is broken, wear see pictures of the frame.

* Jean-Dominique Van Caulaert (1897-1979)

Painter, poster artist, illustrator and designer French. He composed his first show in Belgium in 1923 and 1924 1916.En he illustrated the covers of sheet music for a Belgian publisher, Magritte and other painters work for this editor Musical Office. In the 1930s he performs many posters for Mistinguett Marie Dubas, Josephine Baker, Cecile Sorel, Suzy Solidor, Lys Gauty and Tino Rossi. Talented portraitist, he painted the all-Paris until the 1950s. He left for the United States in 1951 and works eight months a year in New York and four in Paris, until his death at the Villa des Arts Montmartre. He was made a Knight of the Legion of Honor. He lived in a pavilon-workshop at the entrance to the Villa des Arts in Paris, on his return from the United States, where I knew him personally. Note that it was a friend of Marcel Jean, author of the Surrealist group, and the painter Louis Marcoussis.
