Pair of two-light wall sconces in finely chased gilt bronze, wall bracket in undulating shape and ending in a bouquet of flowers, the two light arms swirling in the shape of leafy branches, hallmarks C Crowned*, 18th century period.

These wall lights are in good condition and of superb quality. Stamped with the crowned C in several places in the mid-18th century, they were later drilled for electrification.

Note: minor dents, some scratches and wear consistent with age, see photos.

*the crowned C

Designed under Louis XV as a tax hallmark , the crowned C also became for collectors a hallmark of quality and date : used between 1745 and 1749 , it appears to have been inscribed only on the most refined bronzes .
