Cuckoo clock in carved wood from the Black Forest (Black Forest*) decorated on the pediment with a deer's head, dial framed by a partridge and a hare as hunting trophies, all surrounded by foliage, below a hunting rifle , a powder flask and a game bag, with its weights, from the 19th century.

This cuckoo clock is in good condition and is of good quality. It is very decorative. We have its weights and the carved wooden pendulum (decorated with a leaf). He works. The deer's horns come off.

A note: some tiny accidents on the wood, slight gaps on the pediment ( 1 small piece glued, see last photo), wear of time, see photos.

* Black Forest or Black Forest

The carved wooden objects from the Black Forest are not native to Germany but were made in the region of Brienz, Switzerland. The tradition of woodworking is ancestral in this region, the inhabitants perpetuate the practice of carved wood on the facades of houses, furniture or everyday objects. The sculptors excel in particular in the representation of wild animals in their natural environment. In the 19th century, these naturalist sculptures from the Black Forest became very fashionable and highly prized.
