Pair of carved bronze katakiri-bori vases and inlays of shakudo *, shibuichi, gold and silver leaves, rich decoration of small birds twirling among flowers, from Japan, Meiji period late nineteenth century.
These vases are in good condition, they are of high quality and are very decorative. Maybe trace of signature ink in the ass of a vase.
A note: some small scratches and wear of time on the sets, see photos.

* shibuichi: Japanese alloy of copper and silver known for its blue-gray and blue and green colors, generally used for ornamentation.
* The shakudo:
is a copper (metal) copper alloy typically containing 3 to 7% gold, mainly used for its lacquer-like black-purple patina. Sometimes small amounts of other metals are added. In traditional Japanese art it is often hammered and encrusted with gold or copper to obtain very contrasting patterns.
