Beautiful Orientalist oil on canvas depicting a view of the city of Kalâa Sghira near Sousse in Tunisia, with characters among the olive trees in the foreground, including a man traveling with his donkey, signed Emile Boivin *, second half nineteenth time century.

This oil is in good condition and is of high quality. It is signed lower left and is annotated "Tunisia" lower right. It is annotated on the chassis on the back "Kala Srira near Sousse Tunisia".

A report: tiny lack of paint in the sky right, missing on the edges (the location of a frame), see photos.

* Emile Boivin (1846-1920)

Orientalist painter (Ec fr), working in Tunis and Algiers. He was a pupil of Quillard and Migno. It is quoted from him: "The pink mountain of Amar-Kadour", "Biskra: a street in old Biskra", "Mountains of Choua" (acquired by the State), "Gourbis near Beni-Mora", "Biskra", "The French squadron in the port of Algiers", "The Col de Spha". * Kalâa Seghira or Kalâa Sghira is a Tunisian town located five kilometers west of Sousse a few kilometers south of another town called Kalâa Kebira. The Arabic word kalaa means "fortress". Its main activity is the production of olive oil. It is located in the center of the Tunisian Sahel which is home to the largest olive grove in North Africa.
