Pair of oils on canvas signed Louis Dali * representing an annimated view of characters from the Place de la Madeleine in Paris for one; and for the other, a view of the Pont Saint-Michel and the Ile de la Cité with some booksellers on the quay, vintage twentieth century.

These paintings are in good condition as well as frames. Signed lower left and right.

A note: some small accidents on the frames, a table will be reattached in its frame, see photos.

Louis Dali (1905-1994):

French painter, made famous for his depictions of the true atmosphere of Paris in his street scenes. He specialized in small street scenes in Paris. He has received honors in many exhibitions in Europe. Louis Dali was a member of the Society of French Artists in Paris. He received the silver medal of the city of Paris in 1965 and won several awards at the Paris Salons. Dali's popularity grew in the late 1970s, when the French government commissioned him to paint his interpretation of twelve Paris tourist sites. Dali's paintings have also been exhibited in the museums of Nantes and Rennes. Louis Dali's works became popular in the United States in the 1950s when the Arnot Gallery (New York) began buying his paintings. The gallery continues to exhibit Dali's paintings throughout his life. Louis Dali lived in Brittany, France, during the last 10 years of his life. Some paintings by Louis Dali are permanently on display at the Arnot Gallery in New York.
