Oil on panel signed G. Vogels* representing an animated view of characters and carriages of the Place de la Bourse in Brussels, Belgian school, 19th century period.

This painting is in good condition. Signed lower left and label on the back.

Note: slight wear and tear on the paint, trace of candle wax in one corner of the frame (see last photo), see photos.

* William Vogels (1836-1896)

is a Belgian painter. Trained at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels, Guillaume Vogels pursues his career as an artist alongside his profession as a building painter and decorator, at the head of his company "Painting and Decoration" in Brussels. First influenced by the realist movement (Louis Artan de Saint-Martin, Théodore Baron and Hippolyte Boulenger), he discovered a brighter palette in the 1870s, under the influence of the Greek painter Périclès Pantazis (whom he employed). for a year in his company). In 1883, he was one of the founding members of the Brussels avant-garde artistic group Les Vingt and participated in several of the group's exhibitions.
