Oil on canvas signed J. Fitz Marshall* representing a still life with flowers: passion flowers placed on the ground, in a gilded wooden frame, dated 1890, from the late 19th century.

This painting is in good overall condition, signed lower right and on the back. Annotation Croyden - Epson canvas/frame dealer in England. Traces of an old label also.

Please note: restoration on the canvas visible on the back, some wear on the frame, see photos.

*John Fitz Marshall (1859-1932)

was a painter of landscapes, animals, and still lifes who lived and worked in Croyden. He is thought to be the son of John Marshall. Although his works are relatively rare, Fitz Marshall exhibited extensively during his lifetime. He exhibited at the Royal Academy between 1883 and 1903, as well as on Suffolk Street, the Grosvenor Gallery, the New Gallery, and various other venues. His works exhibited at the Royal Academy include "Chesnut Boughs," "During the Sermon - the Choirmaster's Terrier," and "A Challenge."
