Large oil on canvas signed Léon Galand* representing a nude woman reading, seated and seen from behind, dated 1943, painting exhibited at the Salon of the Society of French Artists on this date, from the 20th century.
This painting is in good condition and is very decorative due to its large size. Signed and dated lower right Salon stamp (and numbers) on the frame.

Léon Laurent Galand (187-1960) was a French painter and illustrator. He was a student of Ernest Michel, Robert Delaunay, Gustave Moreau, Fernand Cormon, and Joseph Blanc. He exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français from 1904 and received a gold medal and a 2nd Prix de Rome, an honorable mention in 1903 at the Salon des Artistes Français, a third-class medal in 1909, and a gold medal. He was awarded the Legion of Honor in 1924. He also sent his works to the Salon d'Hiver. He produced portraits, landscapes, especially of Brittany and Provence, genre scenes, and nudes.
