* The Virgin and Child with the Rosary – or simply The Virgin and Child – is a painting by the Spanish painter Bartolomé Esteban Murillo, created between 1648 and 1650. This oil on canvas depicts the Madonna holding the Christ Child, a rosary in his hand, as he gazes at the viewer from Mary's lap, who also looks directly at us. Part of the collections of the Louvre Museum in Paris, the work has been on loan to the Goya Museum in Castres, Tarn, since 1949.
