Very nice oil on paper depicting a gallant, with a couple dressed in the fashion of the nineteenth is wooing painted by Auguste Soup * vintage twentieth century.
This table is in good condition. It is not signed but comes from the artist's studio. A report: small holes in the corners and fold, tear at the bottom right.
* Soup Auguste (1884-1962), French artist, began modestly in life as a laborer. After attending evening classes at the Ecole de Beaux-Arts de Roubaix (he had studied with the famous painter Harpignies), painting became his livelihood. Inhabitant of Amiens, soup is committed to the city and Picardy which take up considerable space in his paintings, watercolors and drawings. But the eclectic soup pushes also work in other areas, especially Britain and the Périgord, which inspired a large part of his work. He also made paintings including religious stained glass windows for the cathedral of Amiens. Some of his paintings are in the Museum of Peronne.
