Oil on canvas depicting the portrait of a man, most certainly a notable, in a frock coat, signed Guët* Pinxit and dated 1825, in a gilt frame, from the 19th century.
This painting is in good condition. Signed lower left and with an annotation on the stretcher.

He was a French painter. He was a student of Antoine-Jean Gros, Louis Hersent and then Horace Vernet, and he made his debut at the Salon of 1819. He was named a Knight of the Legion of Honour in 1846. He died at his home on Place Vendôme in Paris on 29 November 1871. He is buried in Paris at the Montparnasse Cemetery.
