Superb and rare oil on panel depicting a Dutch landscape with characters working in a field at the edge of a river, near a ruined building, monogrammed lower right, attributed to Aert van der Neer, XVIIth century.

This oil is in good condition. It is monogrammed lower right and the frame carries a brass plate by the artist. The frame is carved gilt, a little later (eighteenth century).

A note: some small accidents on the frame, thin strips of wood were added to the panel so that it fits in the frame, time wear, see photos.

Aert van der Neer * (1603 / 04-1677):

landscape painter (Ec. Dutch). Probably raises Camphuysen brothers. He was the quintessential painter of the night, he went poetic charm with extraordinary power. His moonlight, sunsets, fires his gave him a special place in the Dutch school. It seems almost established that he was not appreciated in his time by fans, but it was not the same artists as we see the great Cuyp painting figures in his paintings. (Bénézit extract)

Artist great side to ArtPrice.
