Large oil on canvas depicting Mary Magdalene * penitent hair down looking towards an angel appearing to him, with some attributes his penance: skull, whip and holy book, XVIIth century.

This table is in good condition, it is in its own juice and will to restore. It was réentoilé late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.

A note: cracks and paint shortages in places, traces of restorations, well look at the pictures (see red arrows).

* Mary Magdalene:

Mary Magdalene, Mary Magdalen or Magdalene, Mary called Magdalene in the Gospels is a disciple of Jesus that follows until his last days. The four Gospels refer to as the first witness of the Resurrection, responsible to prevent the apostles. Tradition and Christian iconography is based on these canonical and apocryphal texts to give many faces of Mary Magdalene, the first spiritual bride of Christ and the Apostle of Revelation then from the fourth century sinful denied and scorned but repented, the Middle Ages seizing many legends to make a saint. In sacred art, Mary Magdalene is often depicted naked, with long and loose hair, to signify his repentance and penance. One of Mary Magdalene of the iconography represents a hermit in the desert, after the death of Christ; attractive woman, not devoid of sensuality, long wavy hair covering her nakedness, she prays or meditates with his usual attributes of repentance, skull, cross, Biblical book ...
