* Of Japanese origin, Imari porcelain was produced in the former Hizen province on the island of Kyushu, primarily in the kilns of the city of Arita. Until the end of the 18th century, porcelain from this province was exported from the port of Imari, which gave its name to this type of production. This style of decoration was imitated by China from around 1720.
