* Talavera:

Real identity mark of the city of Talavera de la Reina. Talavera kilns were the first to introduce Renaissance techniques. The era of splendor of this historic and traditionally crafted school corresponds to the sixteenth century. His production of table services and azulejos was very much appreciated by Philip II. Many of these pieces have been exported to America and Europe, but others can now be seen at the Royal Palace in Madrid or at the Escorial Monastery. It is in the seventeenth century that this industry will reach its golden age. The faience of Talavera belongs to two main streams: the cult type of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries (characterized by its gallant themes, cynegetic and allegorical, and his neat bill) and the popular type of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries (recognizable by its coarse features, the extension of the decorative motif and the simplification of the lines of the friezes).
