Pretty colored engraving depicting a gypsy or gypsy camp at Saintes Maries de la Mer, with various characters and horses in the middle of trailers, Coussens * signed, vintage early twentieth century.

This print is in good condition and frame. It is signed lower right and numbered 42 on the left. It is under glass. A report: many tasks and humidity jaunissures on paper, see photos.

* Armand Coussens (1881-1935): painter and engraver, he spent his childhood and part of his adolescence in the Gard. After the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Nîmes, he moved to Paris in the common 1900.l Closerie des Lilas where he met many artists (Salmon, Moreas, Paul Fort ...) After eight years in the Capital , where he was a bohemian existence full of life and poetry he returned to Nîmes in 1909. He easily obtained the title of professor of drawing in the schools. In 1912, Armand Coussens began to exhibit his works. From 1914 he exhibited at the Galerie de la Boétie in Paris. Touched the humble painter, gypsies, or Cevennes Provence countryside, it is especially etcher as his fame spread beyond our borders. His works have been purchased by museums in New York, London, Tokyo, Los Angeles ... The collection is almost complete at Print Room of the National Library in Paris.
