Pair of miniatures painted on porcelain representing the Virgin of the Chair (after Raphael's painting with the Madonna holding the Infant Jesus, as well as Christ with the crown of thorns), in Indo-Portuguese frames in carved ironwood with mother-of-pearl inlays, richly decorated with vegetal arabesques, fish and flowers, from the 19th century.

These miniatures are in good overall condition, as are their frames.

Note: some damage to the corners of the frames, some missing mother-of-pearl (especially on the frame with Christ), wear and tear from age, see photos (cf. red arrows).

Raphael's Madonna della Sedia, also known as the Madonna of the Chair, is a religious painting displayed in the Pitti Palace in Florence. Painted in Rome in 1513-1514, documented in 1589, and in the Pitti Palace since the 18th century, it was taken to Paris by Napoleonic troops in 1799 and returned to Florence in 1815.
