Reliquary medallion in brass enhanced with enamels with openwork decoration of small fleur-de-lis and stylized crosses, dedicated to Blessed Pierre Chanel*, piece of Tava (mat) having wrapped his body, vintage late 19th century.

This reliquary is in good condition, good quality. It has its seals.

* Pierre Chanel (1803-1841) is a Catholic saint, martyr of Oceania. A Catholic missionary priest, Pierre Chanel is a member of the Society of Mary (Marist Fathers) and is sent as a missionary to Oceania. He arrived on the island of Futuna in the South Pacific in November 1837 to evangelize the population. His action aroused opposition among King Niuliki's entourage and he was killed on April 28, 1841. Beatified in 1889, he was canonized on June 12, 1954 and then became Saint Pierre Chanel, martyr of Oceania. He is celebrated on April 28. Several shrines have been erected in his name, including the Basilica of Saint Peter Chanel in Poi on the island of Futuna.
