Large Carrara marble sculpture representing a cherub or Love sitting on a rock, looking at a small butterfly resting on his left arm, signed Pugi *, from the Art Nouveau period late 19th-early 20th centuries.
This sculpture is in good condition and is of remarkable quality. It is signed on the back.

Guglielmo Pugi (1865-1950), born in Fiesole, Italy, was an Italian sculptor whose studio was in Florence. He and his sons, Gino and Fiorenzo worked under the name Guglielmo Pugi et Fils, and the sons subsequently worked under the names Fratelli G. and F. Pugi (also known as the Pugi Brothers). They mainly served the export market.
