Alabaster sculpture representing the bust of the famous German composer Richard Wagner*, signed R. Nannini**, from Italy, dating from the very beginning of the 20th century.
This bust is in good condition and of exceptional quality. Signed on the side.

He was a German composer, theatre director, writer, and conductor of the Romantic period. He is particularly known for his fourteen operas and lyric dramas, the ten major ones of which are regularly performed at the annual Festival, which he founded in 1876 and which takes place every summer in the Bayreuth Festival Hall, designed by him specifically for the performance of his works. He also authored more than twenty philosophical and theoretical works.
He was born in Florence. He practiced his craft as a sculptor in his hometown and created figures for French companies such as Les Neveux de J. Lehman and Edmond Etling in the early 20th century. He also exhibited at the Paris Salon. His work is highly regarded on Artprice.
