Exceptional and rare large Carrara marble sculpture * representing the bust of an elegant young woman, signed H.Weigele **, XIXth century.
This bust is in very good condition and is of a remarkable quality of execution. It is signed on one shoulder. The saddle on which is placed the sculpture for the photos is not for sale.
A note: light micro-chips on the edge of the marble, slight wear time see photos.
* Carrara marble is a type of marble, quarried from the Apuan Alps in the territory of Carrara (Italy), universally known as one of the most popular marble for its whiteness without much veining.
sculptor (Ec fr). Pupil of Jules Francesi. Member of the French Artists since 1902, honorable mention in 1893, medal of third class in 1907, medal of second class in 1909. The Museum of Liverpool keeps of him "Athénienne" in marble and bronze. (extract from Bénézit)
