Carved ivory statuette representing a reclining nude young woman, known as a doctor woman*, from China, dating from the Qing dynasty, 19th century.
This statuette is in good condition, superb quality of sculpture.
Please note: there are some slits and soiling on the woman, light scratches and wear consistent with age, see photos.
Worked ivory specimen, prior to July 1, 1947 and therefore compliant with EC Regulation 338/97 of 09/12/1996 art.2-Wmc.

* The female physician is a statuette made of ivory or bone, which allowed the patient to show the therapist the location of her discomfort or pain. Chinese doctors could not make their patients undress, especially women, hence the usefulness of these figurines. Very practical, they allowed the servant to stand in for her mistress and point out and describe the ailments she was suffering from.
